Shane Carthy – Dark Blue The Despair Behind the Glory – My Journey Back from the Edge
Having recently launched his book, DARK BLUE The Despair Behind the Glory – My Journey Back from the Edge, Shane has discussed his experiences with mental health issues on TV and Radio.
Shane has honestly described how his challenges were ongoing during his teens and in spite of succeeding in many aspects of life, including sport, he was internally in turmoil and considered whether life was worth living. Soon after producing a man-of-the-match display in Dublin’s 2014 Leinster u-21 final win over Meath, Shane realised he needed professional help. With the support of the Dublin u-21 Manager, Dessie Farrell, Shane got the help he needed and started rebuilding his life and developing resilience for his future challenges.
Shane will be going into more detail on this journey which is sure to be inspiring for all who join us for the event.
