Thomas Ashe U13A

Thomas Ashe “A” v Naomh Mearnog “A”
Friday night back under the lights in St Margarets seen Thomas Ashe “A” under 13s come up against a tough opponent in Naomh Mearnog “A” on a soggy wet night of footaball. Thomas Ashe known in recent games as been slow starters raced out of the blocks and took the game to Naomh Mearnog who had no answer to the early goals and points produced by Thomas Ashe in a wonderful display of teamwork and individual scoring which seen the lads go in at halftime worthy leaders. Unlike past weeks Thomas Ashe came out unusually flat footed in the second half which allowed their opponents a way back into the game. It was nip and tuck throughout the whole second half with nothing to split the teams come the final whistle although on near misses this game could of been Thomas Ashes for the keeping. A very enjoyable and evenly matched contest with a final score of 2-8 to 3-5 ending in a draw. Some fanatic individual displays from the guys with the highlight been a magnificent save from Goalkeeper Oisin to prevent what seemed a certain goal to keep us in it and a fantastic point from open play the last kick of the game earned us a draw. This team once again showed they are rapidly improving each game and the lads from 1-17 the whole way through the squad can be proud of their efforts tonight. Well done to all involved we go again training Monday.
