U12s v St Plunketts
Another outstanding display by these U12s against St Plunketts Saturday morning
Super displays by Lexi, Saoirse and Ruby who were outstanding
U12s v St Marys
What a show these boys put on in their 3rd grading match!
The team today ...
Charlie
Mason Luke
Jamie Cowley Harry Cantwell Kevin
Alex, Darragh
Harry Reagan, Robbie, Finn
Ryan (Jamie Reagan), Tynan (Cillian), Eoghan
St Margarets started this game fast - a well worked goal from the throw in! - they built on that good start and led by 8 points with 10 minutes gone. They moved the ball from back to front with great assurance in these early stages!
Defenders were fierce in their tackling - giving some very dangerous Mary's forwards no time on the ball!
Charlies kick outs were super early on - going long into midfield to Darragh & Alex. Mason marshalled the back superbly - always in the center and deep enough to see the danger. Jamie Cowley was the ultimate wing back - defending when he was called upon then first to get forward when we were attacking - super performance. Luke & Kevin & Harry Cantwell were excellent also - keeping everything simple - following the Marys attackers, winning ball back - and giving simple passes off to the forwards!
Darragh & Alex were all over the pitch - always available for passes and had great legs to get us up the pitch and ease the pressure! Some sensational catches in the 2nd half from Darragh! Both these kids scored some tremendous long range points!
In the half forward line - Harry Reagan, Robbie and Finn were willing runners and always dangerous - Harry with his bullish runs, Robbie with his smart runs & aggression and Finn with his all round Finesse!
In the full forward line - Ryan was welcomed back after a long term injury - and played as if he hadn't been away! Eoghan was superb with some very good catches and simple passes. Tynan was always available for the pass - and could have scored 2 goals towards the end! Jamie Reagan did great today and ultimately scored the equalising goal! Cillian - what can you say about this kid! He has the best set of hands in this age group for sure - anything that was played into him was caught and that usually led to a score via a hand off or by taking it himself!
St Marys came back into this game after a slow start - and it was all square at half time - 2 very equal sides - both working very hard to contain the other. St Mary's had several super runners who caused havoc when they ran at the Margarets defence!
The 2nd half was more intensive - and Mary's started to edge this game mid way through - their dangerous number 10 scoring 4 super goals! Mary's up by 6 points with 7/8 minutes remaining!
But this group have heart! They never dropped their heads and with the inspiration of Darragh & Alex - they knocked off 1-5 along with Killian & Jamie Reagan in that remaining 8 minutes to win this tie by 2!!!!
This was a battle we could have lost easily in that final period - but bullish determination - and some unreal scores - dragged us through - and it's a battle we'll reference from here on in as our 'base' standard!
Well done to this super bunch of kids!
Thank you for all the support this morning also!

NBC coming to St Margaret's! Saturday 24th June - U10s Girls v St Brendanns
Our U10s match v St Brendan's on Saturday 24th June will be filmed by NBC.
Here's why! NBC are filming an episode of a long-running series made in conjunction with the University of Notre Dame called 'What would you fight for?'
This episode is about the university's investment into CF research, so they're filming with Eva and her family, and also want to catch her in action with her team mates 😃
The 2 minute film will be shown on-screen in the Aviva during Notre Dame's 'Fighting Irish' American Football match against Navy, as part of the College Classic. It will also air at the same time on NBC in the States!
The plan is to film a warm-up with NBC at 11am sharp, before the match at 12.
It's a great opportunity to showcase the club.
Please come and support and wear your full Mags kit 🙌
