Good Luck tomorrow Rory!!!! O’Byrne Cup - Dublin v Offaly - 1:30pm Gracefield (Offaly)
Our senior footballers are back in action for the first time this Saturday since last year’s All-Ireland Final win over Kerry, as they enter the Dioralyte O’Byrne Cup at the Quarter-Final stage against Offaly at Gracefield (1.30pm).
The competition allows Leinster counties to build up some momentum to take into the league season, which starts at the end of this month.
It also gives management the chance to take a look at their options, ahead of the Allianz Football League season - and in particular our very own Rory Dwyer!!!
After the recent tragic passing of one club legend - Ciaran Sutton - it's fitting that a possible new club legend dawns.
The competition format has changed from previous editions and is now a straight knock-out rather than featuring a group stage phase.
Dublin have won the O’Byrne Cup 10 times, with our most recent success coming in 2022.
Dessie Farrell’s men will take on Offaly in the quarter-finals, after the Faithful County beat Laois on Wednesday night in their Round 1 tie in Stradbally.
A Dylan Hyland goal was key in their 1-11 to 0-12 win midweek and Dublin will be aware of the threat that Hyland possesses after he was instrumental in Offaly’s win over Dublin in last year’s O’Byrne Cup, as he led the way on the scoring front with 0-05 to his name.
Offaly have won the competition six times, with their last O’Byrne Cup title coming in 1998.
Match tickets are available here.
The game will also be shown live on Clubber.
The winner of this quarter-final will play the winners of the other last-eight clash between Wexford and Kildare.

We had an incredible time celebrating the end of another fantastic year for the Juvenile Section of St. Margarets Gaelic Football Club.
Our annual wrap-up event was a resounding success, filled with excitement, achievements, and festive cheer. We would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to all the dedicated club volunteers who made this event possible especially Club President Mary Madigan and our GPO Nigel Kennedy.
A special shoutout goes to Santa Claus and Mrs Claus, who took time out of their busy schedule to visit us! The joy and wonder on the faces of our smallies were priceless, and we are grateful for the magical memories created.
We also want to congratulate all the players who received awards during the ceremony. Your hard work, determination, and sportsmanship have been truly inspiring. You have made us proud and we can’t wait to see what the future holds for each and every one of you!

Motor Neuron Disease Research - Sat October 14th - 8:30pm
Dear Friends, The family of Ciaran Sutton with St. Margarets GFC is fundraising for Motor Neuron Disease Research headed by Professor Orla Hardiman of Beaumont Hospital
On Saturday, October 14th, at 8:30pm, we will be hosting a raffle and auction at the Coolquay Lodge. For those who wish to enjoy a meal beforehand at 7pm, the Coolquay is generously offering a two-course meal for €20.
Everyone is welcome to join us in our mission to make a positive impact in the battle against MND.
If you are unable to attend on the 14th but still wish to contribute to this fundraiser,
visit our iDonate page https://www.idonate.ie/fundraiser/MotorNeuronDieaseResearch or you can scan our QR code.
All money raised goes directly to Research Motor Neuron.
Let's join forces and make a positive impact in the fight against MND.
MND is caused by cells in the brain and nerves called motor neurons. Over time these cells gradually stop working. It results in the progressive loss of these motor neurons that control voluntary muscles and gets worse over time. It can affect speech, swallowing, breathing, and mobility. MND significantly shortens life expectancy and can dramatically impact one's life.
Now there is no cure, hence, this fundraiser is being organised for continued research by Prof. Hardiman and her team to enable them to make further headway to find that breakthrough in finding a cure soon.
Ciaran was given the diagnosis of this devastating disease in July 2023. Since the diagnosis, he has bravely worked throughout each day, has maintained his dignity, and is coping the best way he can with the support of his family. Ciaran has had to make many life-changing decisions, far too quickly, due to the rapid progression of this disease.
Ciaran is a well-known member of the community, was very involved in the 1970s with the youth of the parish, and was a member of the Macra Na Tuaithe and Feirme which involved drama, quizzes, and social events.
His love and support for football, both his local St Margarets GAA and his county Dublin was always his joy, interest, and focus.
He played from juvenile to senior levels in midfield and was renowned for his great pair of hands to catch a ball and his accuracy of delivery with his left foot. He played for his county at 21 and senior levels during Kevin Heffernan's era (Heffo's army!), a man whom Ciaran had great respect and admiration for.
He travelled to New York in the 80s for new experiences and worked in construction and travelled with his work extensively. He played football while in New York in Gaelic Park where he played for Sligo and won a championship. He returned home and has worked in his business for the past 30 years but sadly the decision has been made to close the business.
Thank you in advance to all who contribute to the fundraiser which will provide funds to enable further research for MND.
