St Margaret's Ladies into Championship Final
On Wednesday evening on our home pitch in St Margaret's in glorious sunshine our Adult Ladies team defeated Na Fianna in the semi final of the Junior E Championship to set up a mouth watering Final with Round Towers Lusk on Wednesday the 01st September away in Lusk at 19.15. This was a hard fought win and saw both teams playing the game with intent from the first whistle to the last. As was shown by the girls in the final group stage game they are not easily rattled and withstood the pressure from Na Fianna going in at half time with a three point lead. The third quarter was where the girls turned up the heat on Na Fianna and pulled away. They battened down the hatches after that and despite a few scares saw out the game to win by 7 points in the end. Our defence withstood early pressure from Na Fianna with Tutsy in goal, Rachel Dwyer at full back and Sophie McQuillan Clarke at centre back in particular soaking up much of that pressure. Kirsten Doyle, Jodi Tynan, Leah Burke and Lauren McDonnell were battling hard for every ball giving the Na Fianna forwards no time to settle. Our midfield pairing of Charmaine Doyle and Yvonne Dwyer again worked tirelessly providing quality ball into the forwards who took the baton and done the business at their end. Rebecca McGuinnes in particular tormented the Na Fianna defence for the duration of the game. Tasha Barnwall again pulled the strings at centre forward and when necessary was back putting her shoulder to the wheel helping out the defence. Kate Dwyer despite being tightly marked was up to her own high standard and drove the forwards on at every opportunity. Skye Healy, Shauna Martin and Caroline Lawlor were on hand to make sure the team were driving forward at every opportunity. When legs were tiring Kaylah Clarke and the ever young Nessa Madigan came in to make sure Na Fianna were not going to get any opportunity to make a come back.
St Margaret's Team: Tutsy Cogley, Kirsten Doyle, Rachel Dwyer, Jodi Tynan, Leah Burke, Sophie McQuillan Clarke, Lauren McDonnell, Yvonne Dwyer, Charmaine Doyle 0-2, Rebecca McGuinness 1-2, Tasha Barnwall 0-2, Skye Healy 0-1, Kate Dwyer 1-6, Caroline Lawlor 0-1, Shauna Martin 1-2. Subs used: Nessa Madigan 0-1, Kaylah Clarke.

Our Ladies team completed the group stages of the championship last night unbeaten with an excellent display against the also unbeaten Round Towers Lusk. This gives the girls a home game in the semi final against Na Fianna C on Wednesday the 25th next. The girls started the game well and withstood a period of pressure from the Lusk girls with some brave defending from the girls particularly Tutsy in goals, Rachel Dwyer at full back, the ever reliable Sophie at centre back and Leah Burke at wing back. Slowly but surely the girls got a foothold on the game with Yvonne Dwyer at midfield dominating her position with Skye Healy along side her putting in a great shift. Our forwards worked hard for their scores but took the chances that came their way well. In particular Tasha Barnwall at centre forward who worked tirelessly up and down the field helping the defence when needed. Becca McGuinness and Kate Dwyer were working the Lusk defence hard as usual taking their scores well. Shauna Martin arguably got the score of the game with a fine goal into the top corner of the net. Caroline Lawlor and Nessa were leading by example by working their socks off.

St Margaret's Junior Ladies keep up winning streak to reach Champ semi final
St Margaret's 7-21 Fingal Ravens 4-4
Our Junior Ladies Team played Fingal Ravens on Wednesday last at home in St Margaret's and needed to win to progress to the Semi Final stages of the Championship. The girls started well and were 3-6 to no score up at the first water break and were well in control all over the pitch. Rachel Dwyer was commanding the full back position and Ravens found it very difficult to score. Nessa Madigan who stood in for Tutsy who had got her jabs in goal was on top form. Sophie McQuillan Clarke was as affective as ever at centre back cutting out anything that was coming through the mid field area. Charmaine Doyle and Yvonne Dwyer were as industrious as ever in mid field working tirelessly up and down the field. Up front Rebecca McGuinness was breaking the hearts of the Ravens defence with her driving runs from half forward. Tasha Barnwall was again pulling the strings for the forwards at centre forward and Rudy O Shea on the other wing was also causing the Ravens defence all sorts of problems. Kate Dwyer was her usual brilliant self and Caroline Lawlor was playing her role of target woman to great effect. Shauna Martin in the other corner was chipping in with some fine scores of her own. In all 8 different players scored which shows the level of skill in this team. This win sees the girls into a semi final on the 25th August next and after next weeks games we will know the opponent and venue.
St Margaret's Junior Ladies get off to a winning start in Championship
The team travelled out to Cherryfield on Wednesday night to face Ballyboden St Endas in their first Championship match of the season following the cancellation of the match against Skerries last week. The girls had a nervous start to the game and took a while to settle down to the task at hand. They traded points with their opponents in the early stages of the game and found themselves with a slender 3 point lead at half time. The girls came out in the second half and found that extra gear racing into a 10 point lead before the water break. Seven forwards were used on the day with all seven scoring which was fantastic to see. Particularly impressive up front was Kate Dwyer contributing 1-12. Also impressive was Skye Healy with Tasha Barnwall who pulled the strings at centre forward. Tutsy Cogley was impressive in goal and kept a clean sheet. Rachel Dwyer was rock solid at full back. The half back line of Lauren McDonnell, Sophie McQuillan Clarke and Leah Burke showed great character by slowly getting on top of the strong Boden half forward line and eliminated that threat. Yvonne Dwyer and Charmaine Doyle as has become the norm for them, worked their socks off to drive the team on.
St Margaret's: Tutsy Cogley, Jodi Tynan, Rachel Dwyer, Ceri Rogers, Leah Burke, Sophie McQuillan Clarke, Lauren McDonnell, Yvonne Dwyer, Charmaine Doyle, Rebecca McGuinness, Tasha Barnwall, Skye Healy, Kate Dwyer, Caroline Lawlor, Shauna Martin. Subs: Kaylah Clarke, Rebecca Monks, Erica Milling, Sarah Mangan, Lucy O'Rourke, Meabh O Grady, Deana Stobie
Next Match - Championship V Fingal Ravens in St Margaret's on Wednesday the 11th August at 7.30pm.
St Margaret's Junior Ladies enjoy mystery training session
On Wednesday the girls enjoyed a mystery trip away from the club for a training session in Lee Valley Training Centre. Well done to all the girls it was a tough session but as Packy says "no pain no gain" 😊. Thanks to Sean for organising and thanks to the parents for their patience on the night. Thanks also to David and the team at Lee Valley Training Centre for accommodating us. We also managed to drop in next door to DP Dunne Racing to see our own little star and get a photo.
