More about Flood Construction

The below is from a 2016 article from http://buildingirelandmagazine.ie/flood-construction-celebrates-first-10-years/

In 2006, brothers Laurence & Michael Flood set up Flood Construction in north Co. Dublin. The family-run business has successfully completed many new build, renovation and repair projects since then, and has earned a reputation for excellence, high standards of workmanship and value-for-money.

Operating out of The Ward, which is a stone’s throw from Dublin Airport, Flood Construction has established itself as a leading general building contractor. By constantly striving to exceed client expectations on quality, workmanship, service and cost, the company has earned over 80 per cent repeat business. Its three directors Laurence, Michael and Joseph Flood take great care and pride in standing over their work and their standards.

They believe their hands-on, friendly and reliable service has stood them in good stead as the construction industry finally emerges from the darkest years of the recession.

“We’re three young guys in our thirties who are in this business for the long haul. The recession was tough on everyone, but we dug our heels in and strongly believe the future is bright for our company,” Laurence says.

“The work came to us at the start, but we had to fight hard for everything after that. It was a steep learning curve, but we’re all the stronger for it. Our mission has and always will be to provide our clients with the type of service one can only receive from a family business.”

Laurence explains how the business rode out the recession.

“Because there was little or no construction happening, we had to find other ways and means of staying in business. So we decided to concentrate on renovation, repair and maintenance work in the industrial, commercial and residential sectors. There was a huge amount of new industrial units and apartments built during the boom that were in need of repair or weren’t fully completed, and this is what sustained us during the recession.

“Thankfully, things have picked up in the past year or two and we’ve started to build again. People are seeing their projects through, though rates remain very tight,” he adds.

Flood Construction provides a complete preconstruction and construction service. Every project, no matter how big or small, receives the personal attention of the Flood team. By taking the time to understand the design and budget of each project, they can make your vision a reality.

The company’s preconstruction services include: site procurement; preconstruction consulting; estimating; value engineering; scheduling; design leadership; construction planning; site analysis; regulatory approvals; procurement.

The construction services provided are: general construction; project management; PSCS; cost control; schedule control; site logistics; contract management; safety / quality / productivity management; project closeout.

Flood Construction employs a full-time contracts manager, civil engineer, site manager and health and safety officer. The company has an unwavering commitment to health and safety, placing a huge emphasis on the safety, health and welfare of persons working onsite.

Some of the recent projects undertaken by Flood include the completion of a partially constructed 19,000 sq. ft. industrial unit at Ballycoolin, Blanchardstown, design and build of an entire new office at Aero Engines Ireland’s aviation facility near Dublin Airport, full renovation of a 100-year-old period house at Gilford Avenue, Sandymount, civil engineering and structural steel works at DHL facility in south Dublin, renovation of four-bed semi-detached house in Dunshaughlin, Co. Meath and extension to large domestic house in Swords.

At the time of writing, Flood Construction was preparing to team up with another builder to carry out a major revamp of the Raheny Shopping Centre in Dublin 5.

In the past year, the Flood brothers have set up two new companies to complement their existing construction business. Blackstone Developments is a property development company, while Blackstone Plant Hire provides a hire service to the construction industry.

“We’ve started hiring plant and machinery to ourselves (Flood Construction) and to other building firms in the area. We set up Blackstone Developments in anticipation of the right site coming along. It will be a case of full steam ahead for that company as soon as the right opportunity presents itself,” Laurence explains.

For all your building requirements from start to finish, whether it’s for new builds, conversions, extensions or renovations, be sure to give Flood Construction a call. A quality and courteous service is assured.
